Option B

26000 Rs.

Solution :

Given:

  • Difference between the incomes of A and D in 2016 = Rs. 30,000.
  • A's income = 25% of the total family income.
  • D's income = 10% of the total family income.
  • B's income increases by 40% in 2017.
  • C's income increases by 20% in 2017.

Step 1: Find the total family income in 2016.

Difference between A and D = (25% − 10%) = 15% of the total income.

15% of total income = 30,000

Total family income = (30,000 × 100) ÷ 15 = Rs. 2,00,000.

Step 2: Find the incomes of B and C in 2016.

Income of B = 35% of 2,00,000 = Rs. 70,000.

Income of C = 30% of 2,00,000 = Rs. 60,000.

Step 3: Find the incomes of B and C in 2017.

Income of B in 2017 = 70,000 × 140% = Rs. 98,000.

Income of C in 2017 = 60,000 × 120% = Rs. 72,000.

Step 4: Find the required difference.

Required difference = 98,000 − 72,000 = Rs. 26,000.

Answer: Rs. 26,000
