In diffuse reflection, the light rays are reflected in random and scattered directions rather than in a parallel beam. Because the reflected rays do not converge to a single point or appear to originate from a single point of origin, regular intersection of reflected light is lost.

As a result of this completely scattered/diffused reflection, light rays fail to construct a definite pattern, and hence, no image of the object is formed on such a surface.
